Dr Vim Kumaratunga

Bio

Vim graduated from the University of Bristol in 2005 and always knew he wanted to specialise in ophthalmology. He spent seven years in first opinion small animal, mixed and exotics practice in Bristol and the South West, gaining his RCVS Certificate in Veterinary Ophthalmology in 2012.

He has been recognised as a RCVS Advanced Practitioner since 2015, working solely as an ophthalmologist at large private referral hospitals in Bristol and Swindon (2012-2019) before commencing a European College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (ECVO) residency programme, at Langford Vets, University of Bristol in 2019. Vim completed his final year of residency training and Master of Veterinary Medicine degree at the Royal Veterinary College (RVC), London in August 2022 and is due to sit his ECVO certifying board exams next spring.

Vim is interested in all areas of ophthalmology, across all species. He has particular interest in feline ophthalmology, infectious keratitis, ocular manifestations of systemic disease and wildlife/exotics species ophthalmology. He is an experienced oculoplastic and corneal surgeon. Vim is also very passionate about teaching and mentoring junior vets and undergraduate students.
