Would you like to work alongside Specialists at the cutting edge of veterinary medicine? Unleash your potential with a London Vet Specialist Internship Programme.

We are pleased to offer a one-year rotating internship at our brand-new multidisciplinary referral centre. An Internship at London Vet Specialists will provide career development opportunities and can act as a stepping-stone towards small animal residencies and other postgraduate programmes. It also provides an outstanding experience for those wishing to return to general practice. All our Interns are required to have a veterinary degree registerable with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) and at least one year of postgraduate experience in a small animal practice.

The programme is designed for highly motivated veterinary surgeons who wish to expand their clinical knowledge, skills and experience, working under supervision in a multidisciplinary referral hospital and providing an emergency out-of-hours service.

Involvement in clinical research, CPD and externships is actively encouraged. This is complemented by journal clubs, in-house specialist lectures, seminars and small-group teaching. We offer our interns the opportunity to assist our veterinary surgeons and Specialists, not just to observe from the sidelines.

What does a London Vet Specialist intern do/what should you expect?

We are pleased to offer one-year rotating internships at our multidisciplinary referral hospital. Internships at London Vet Specialists provide an opportunity for career development. Interns gain exceptional experience during their training, which could be the stepping stone towards a small animal residency programme.

Interns are a vital part of our team, as they assist with diagnostic investigations, surgical procedures and inpatient care, working under the supervision of residents and Specialists. The programme is designed for highly motivated veterinary surgeons who wish to expand their clinical knowledge, skills and experience. Interns are also encouraged to get involved in clinical research and attend CPDs. Interns have the opportunity to attend journal clubs, in-house specialist lectures and seminars and are expected to give a few small presentations. Regular seminars are also delivered by Linnaeus Specialists so that interns can benefit from more didactic teaching. We currently have three interns at LVS and our previous interns have been successful in securing residencies across the Linnaeus group.

We are passionate about enabling you to develop your career. A high percentage of our previous interns have progressed into discipline-specific internships and residencies. During the internship, you will benefit from excellent clinical training from Specialists, 1:1 mentoring with a trained mentor within a framework of monthly mentoring sessions, seminar teaching opportunities, and support to undertake clinical research.

At London Vet Specialists, you will be associated with a network of Specialist-led referral practices and over 120 specialist pathway internship and residency training posts.
